Full Resource Utilization Technology for Fluorogypsum (FGRU™)

Using fluorogypsum as feedstock to achieve full resource utilization of byproduct solid waste, and delivering solutions for building materials and plastic fillers.

Independently developed by Water Healer, the FGRU™ (Fluorogypsum Resource Utilization) technology uses fluorogypsum as feedstock to achieve full resource utilization of byproduct solid waste. Fluorogypsum is the solid byproduct left after Hydrofluoric Acid is produced from synthetic fluorite and concentrated sulfuric acid; its main component is CaSO₄, and it contains residual calcium fluoride, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and a small amount of silicon dioxide. Conventional handling relies largely on stockpiling or simple landfilling, which brings problems such as strong odor, low strength and wasted resources. Through multi-phase precise neutralization, lattice defect activation and powder processing, FGRU™ achieves high-value-added resource utilization of fluorogypsum, providing solutions for building materials and plastic fillers.

Technology Innovations and Advantages

Multi-Phase Precise Neutralization

  • A coupled pH–Eh (oxidation–reduction potential) regulation model is established. A dual-fluid injection system delivering a Ca(OH)₂ composite alkaline solution enables gradient neutralization and dynamically adjusts the neutralizing agent dosage, so that residual acidic components in the fluorogypsum are precisely neutralized while odor release and side reactions are suppressed, improving curing performance.

High-Efficiency Powder Processing and Classification

  • A multi-stage vortex mill integrating impact crushing (3,000 r/min), shear grinding and air classification modules delivers uniform and controllable particle size. An integrated laser particle size analyzer provides real-time feedback for adjusting the grinding parameters, ensuring that powder fineness and particle distribution meet the requirements of building and plastic filler applications.

Lattice Defect Activation

  • Composite activators (Na₂SO₄, Na₂SiO₃ and nano-Al₂O₃), combined with microwave radiation, activate oxygen vacancy defects in the fluorogypsum lattice and enhance hydration activity, so that fluorogypsum delivers good strength, thermal insulation and workability in self-leveling compounds, wall plastering and plastic filling applications.

Green Resource Utilization

  • Fluorogypsum is converted into self-leveling materials, wall plastering materials and plastic fillers, achieving high-value-added utilization of the waste while reducing environmental emissions and land occupation.

Industrial Feasibility and Wide Applicability

  • The modular process design can be applied directly alongside existing Hydrofluoric Acid production units, enabling batch production and commercial rollout of the resulting powder.

Application Prospects

FGRU™ technology converts fluorogypsum, a byproduct solid waste, into high-performance building and industrial materials, providing the Hydrofluoric Acid industry with a green, low-carbon and sustainable waste treatment solution. Through the application of this technology, it not only resolves the problems of fluorogypsum stockpiling and environmental pollution, but also expands the economic value of byproduct solid waste, achieving efficient, environmentally sound and resource-oriented utilization, and providing solid support for corporate green production and the development of a circular economy.
