Resource Recovery Circulation Pathway:
Semiconductor / PV Industry Wastewater → Calcium Fluoride Sludge
→ Synthetic Fluorite Powder → Electronic-Grade Hydrofluoric Acid → Fluorogypsum
Fluoride-containing wastewater treatment generates large volumes of fluoride-containing sludge. Its poor quality prevents effective utilization, causing both resource waste and environmental risk. Through innovation in operation and maintenance (O&M), Water Healer extracts synthetic fluorite powder from this sludge, maximizing the value recovered from waste and protecting non-renewable fluorite reserves.
China mines 4.5 million tonnes of fluorite each year. Recovering fluorite from wastewater could cut virgin ore extraction by 30%, delivering enormous economic and, above all, environmental value.
Calcium fluoride sludge is purified through alkalinity control and converted into high-purity synthetic fluorite powder to replace mined fluorite.
A dedicated pre-reactor produces anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, which is further refined into electronic-grade hydrofluoric acid and supplied back to the PV and semiconductor industries.
Solid waste gypsum from the production process is converted into gypsum-based self-leveling mortar, closing the loop with zero discharge.
Alkalinity control enables targeted purification of calcium fluoride sludge, delivering compliant fluoride removal and fluorine resource recovery at the same time.
Electronic-grade hydrofluoric acid is used primarily in the photovoltaic (PV) and semiconductor industries. The sludge generated from treating wastewater discharged by these industries is converted into synthetic fluorite powder, which is then used to produce electronic-grade hydrofluoric acid and sold back to PV and semiconductor manufacturers. A pre-reactor suited to hydrofluoric acid production has been developed, with an optimized internal structure that delivers higher reaction efficiency and lower requirements on fluorite powder quality.
Mineral Fluorite Powder + Concentrated Sulfuric Acid (H₂SO₄) → Rotary Kiln with a Diameter of 2.5–3.5 m → Anhydrous HF
Synthetic Fluorite Powder → Dedicated Pre-Reactor for Synthetic Fluorite → Anhydrous HF → Electronic-Grade Hydrofluoric Acid
Compared with conventional anhydrous hydrogen fluoride plants, the dedicated equipment and process for synthetic fluorite offer significant advantages:
The solid waste gypsum generated during production is processed into a fast-setting, high-strength self-leveling gypsum product that can perfectly replace — and even outperform — cement-based self-leveling mortar.
Gypsum-based self-leveling mortar is a dry-mix mortar designed specifically for floor leveling. It is manufactured in a plant from inorganic cementitious materials, special aggregates and a range of high-performance additives that are scientifically proportioned, precisely batched and homogeneously blended. On site, the mortar can be mixed directly with water (mechanically or manually) into a self-leveling slurry that levels automatically. It is used to level indoor building floors, for example to fill uneven surfaces, fine voids and cracks.
